Small farmers are overly regulated, which makes it nearly impossible to compete with mega-farms which receive over 60% of the benefits. Small farmers allow safe, local, and organic food to be made available regionally at low transportation costs.
Why is protecting the rights of the family farmer a priority for me?
The family farmer represents the core values and strengths of our country, yet countless politicians have turned their backs and now favor the large corporations who lobby them and dole out special interest money. I am not a farmer, but I am an entrepreneur, a businessman, and a proponent of liberty. Congress and the USFDA have been restricting the rights of family farmers and their ability to compete fairly in a free market society. I want to make sure farmers are heard and properly represented once again.
I want to slash the bureaucratic red tape that makes it harder to compete, and restore the basic liberties that your parents and grandparents enjoyed. You support will help me:
• Eliminate NAIS, which costs farmers thousands of dollars, impedes the business process, and restricts liberties.
• Support the sale and interstate transport of raw milk
• Support on-farm Livestock Processing
• Support on-farm retail venues, reducing stifling regulation.
• Stop ethanol subsidies, which is increasing the price of feed.
• Reduce regulations on real organic produce for small farmers.
• Eliminate the Inheritance Tax, keeping your farm intact when you pass it on to your children.
• Defend your Second Amendment rights to bear Arms.
