March 21st, 2008 (Guilderland) - Steven Vasquez, a Tech Valley entrepreneur, announced his bid as a Republican for the 21st Congressional District on the first day of Spring. Steven is running to stop wasting money so we can protect seniors and veterans.
“We need to focus on fixing our fiscal house and taking care of Social Security. With the economy in a recession, the dollar falling, rising gas and food prices, the mortgage crisis, and massive deficit spending, Washington has the wrong priorities.”
As baby boomers enter retirement age in the next 20 years, the US
General Accountability Office (GAO) says the federal government will go
broke leaving taxpayers holding the bill for over $500,000 per
household. Steven says, “this is the greatest threat to national
security, as the government will not be able to pay for national
defense or its commitments to our senior citizens and veterans.”
Unlike current politicians with ties to special
interest groups, Steven stated he will fight for Americans and make the
hard choices to stop Congress from deficit spending that robs from
Social Security and endangers national security.
A native of New York State, Steven is a proud
member of the Capital District’s Tech Valley. A Lally School MBA and an
RPI engineer, Steven invented the first MP3 media server in 1997, five
years before Apple introduced the iPod. Steven created manufacturing
and engineering jobs in Tech Valley by co-founding ReQuest, a
successful consumer electronics business. More information on Steven
Vasquez’s campaign can be found on his website, www.steven2008.com
